The essence of business information

Business information is much more than just collecting figures from companies. It is not just about collecting that data, but above all about translating all that data into valuable insights. In addition to business intelligence, we therefore refer to a company report or company information report or also business report rather than a credit report. A credit report is limited to the creditworthiness or solvency of an organisation. A company report is much more comprehensive and looks beyond creditworthiness alone.

Who can benefit from company information?

Company information is traditionally used by financial profiles, such as CFOs, finance managers, credit managers, credit controllers, risk managers, etc. However, its application and purpose is much broader and relevant to various functions:

  • Marketers use company information to accurately define target groups. In an ideal situation, they also consider the financial stability and growth potential of an organisation.

When to use company information?

Many organisations consult business information when a prospect or customer is already on their radar. Usually when a payment is overdue, by which time it is often too late. The ideal time to use company information is during the prospecting phase. So, it starts with marketing and sales. By screening potential customers for creditworthiness in advance, you avoid wasting (a lot of) time and resources on unhealthy leads, which will only result in losses in the long run.

Rest assured, the vast majority of Belgian companies are quite healthy. This is estimated to be 70 to 80 per cent of companies in an average prospecting portfolio. By identifying this at an early stage, the sales process becomes more efficient and profitable. Your organisation can then focus on relationships that are not only valuable today, but also sustainable in the long term.

Not only commercial enterprises, but also governments can be assessed. In most cases, payment behaviour is subject to the microscope. Although the government is generally a reliable payer, the speed with which invoices are paid often leaves something to be desired.

This helps you avoid cash flow problems and plan your business operations more effectively.
